RIM intend To Open New Factory In India

Research in Motion (RIM), manufacturer of BlackBerry smartphones, seems intending to open new factory in India. Even later, India could have become the center of the BlackBerry device exports to other regions.

RIM's Chief Information Officer, Robin Bienfat, even will soon travel to India to meet BlackBerry subscribers in this country. In addition, he also will probe the possibility of construction of the BlackBerry manufacturer.

RIM refused to how much investment they are going to cultivate. But it is expected, an initial investment to making a new factory ranging from USD 150 mill to $ 250 million. Robin reportedly will visit the region of Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi to identify the location of manufacturing plant.

If realized, the factory in India will be the first RIM manufacturing facility in the Asia Pacific. In this area, they operate in 18 countries, including Indonesia. It is now RIM is in trouble with the Indian government's relevant government request to access the servers of RIM, but construction of the factory is said as a different matter.

In India, there are many global vendors who set up the factory. For example Nokia, Samsung and LG. Previously, RIM had asked to open a factory in Indonesia considering the market potential here is huge. But apparently until now, no more news about the sequel.
