HTC Evo Shift 4G

The Motorola Atrix 4G and the HTC EVO Shift 4G were both announced at CES in January 2011. They have been up against other devices but now we shall put them against each other and see what we can come up with.

Both the Motorola Atrix 4G and the HTC EVO Shift 4G are Android 2.2 (Froyo) devices at the time of announcement. The Motorola Atrix 4G uses a 1 GHz dual-core Tegra processor to drive a 4-inch screen displaying the Motoblur modification of Android 2.2. The HTC Evo Shift 4G is using an 800 MHz processor to drive a 3.6-inch TFT screen with 65K colours. The HTC Evo Shift 4G displays the Sense modification of the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS

The Motorola Atrix 4G has 1GB of RAM against the 512MB of RAM on the HTC Evo Shift 4G. The Motorola Atrix 4G has 16 GBs of onboard storage whilst the HTC Evo Shift 4G has 2GBs of ROM.

Again the HTC EVO Shift 4G loses out in the battery stakes with its relatively small 1500 mAh battery losing out to the Motorola Atrix 4G’s 1930 mAh battery.

Both devices use a 5-megapixel camera as its main camera, but the Motorola Atrix 4G has secondary VGA camera while the HTC EVO Shift 4G does not.

It is clear from the above that the Motorola Atrix 4G is the better device. The big question is: how much more will you have to pay for it over the HTC EVO Shift 4G? As we have seen, the HTC has a slightly slower processor and less storage but not by much. If the prices are pretty similar then the Motorola Atrix 4G would be the one to go for.

If the prices are vastly different and you can live without the secondary camera on the Motorola Atrix 4G that the HTC EVO Shift 4G does not have, then go for the HTC EVO Shift 4G. It might also help to note here that the HTC EVO Shift 4G runs on the unique CDMA2000 and EV-DO networks. The choice might only be there if you are lucky enough to be able to choose between both the different networks.
