Nokia N8 VS Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
By: Infocellular
The Nokia N8 is much older than the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc but both are currently amongst the most-searched for devices on the web.
Both the Nokia N8 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc are quad-band smartphones. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is larger and flatter, but weighs a miniscule 18g less. The Nokia N8 has an AMOLED display rated at 360 x 640 pixels while the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a TFT display rated at 480 x 854 pixels. Both are 16M colour capacitive touchscreens.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a better battery rating at 1500 mAh against the 1200 mAh of the Nokia N8. Surprisingly though, the talktime for the Nokia N8 is given as 12 hours while the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc claims a little below seven hours of talktime.
The Nokia N8 drives the Symbian^3 OS with a 680 MHz ARM processor. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc drives Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with Qualcomm MSM8255 rated at 1GHz.
The Nokia N8 comes with a 12.1-megapixel camera while the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has an 8.1-megapixel camera on it. The Nokia N8 also has 16 GBs for storage whilst the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has 512MBs. Both phones accept microSD cards of up to 32GBs in size.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc still has some way to go to catch up with the Nokia N8 on this one. Although the Nokia N8 was announced a good eight months earlier, the Nokia N8 still has the better camera and more storage. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a better battery rating and a faster processor. It may come down to whether you are more comfortable with the Symbian^3 OS or with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
Still, we think that it would take some doing for Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc to match the current price of the Nokia N8, and unless they come very close to the Nokia N8 price, the Nokia N8 is obviously the better choice in this comparison.
